Cedar Point/Cabin C is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 story home, with washer/dryer. A wrap around deck provides a pleasant, peaceful view of the river and wildlife that visit the area. ![]() This trail will give to access to the natural cave shelter. River Bluff/Cabin B is a one (queen) bedroom on one level with a queen sleeper sofa for additional sleeping, also includes washer/dryer and dishwasher. The main Cave-In-Rock Cave Trail is the main feature that most visitors will visit to participate in. This sweet cabin is the perfect romantic getaway. A futon in the sitting area also provides additional sleeping. The cozy little A-frame cabin has a spiral staircase that leads to the loft bedroom with a dbl bed. These homes are within a couple miles of the park, all have cooking amenities and outside grills, and all have a spectacular river view. I also would love to check out the cabins they have that sit right on the water.Cave in Rock State Park also manage 5 private rental homes along with their restaurant and cabins. It's pretty hilly, so I'd describe the trail as moderate. We didn't end up doing the whole loop, maybe only one mile total, but it was super peaceful and we enjoyed being out in the woods. The area had just gotten a lot of rain the past few days, so the trail was pretty muddy and also not well marked. So we backtracked to try the first trail. One is down past the cabins and another is on the way in. ![]() Staying at Turkey Run State Park is fun and reasonably priced, and it turns a trip into. Even though the lodge/restaurant wasn't technically opened yet, they let us come in to use the restroom and gave us directions to find the trails. In every poll, Turkey Run State Park is the 1 favorite State Park. After viewing the cave, we wanted to try some hiking on the trails we had read about. We spent about ten minutes checking out the cave and taking pictures by the river on the sand. The cave itself and the views surrounding it right on the river are really neat. There are many stairs to go down, so like others mentioned, the cave is not handicap accessible. There is a marked parking area down below, but if it's not busy when you are there (it was not for us at 10 AM on a Friday in March), there's a small pullout up top right by the stairs where you can park. and offer a nice selection of other entrees and deserts. The Kaylor's specialize in catfish dinners. It is not a fast food restaurant, but the short wait will be worth it. Obviously, the star attraction is the cave. While visiting Cave-In-Rock State Park in southeastern Illinois, be sure to stop in this quaint little restaurant atop Pirates' Bluff in the State Park. This state park is pretty small but has some nice features. The town of Cave in Rock is very quaint, and we also enjoyed driving along some of the unique looking houses right on the river. We drove down from our cabin near Garden of the Gods to explore this new-to-us state park.
